I always try and share little quick fixes for stupid problems I run into.
Today I was trying to burn my Windows 8 preview .iso file to a disc, which I know is built into Windows 7, but for whatever reason the contextual menu wasn’t showing up for me. Surprisingly that actually a fairly common problem.
I read about 15 different hacks to get this working but I then came across by far the easiest solution, which is:
- Right click on the .iso file
- Click open with (if that’s not there, just double click is and choose the program you want to open with)
- And choose Windows Disc Image Burner
Now your file association should work again. So simple, yet seemingly elusive for the last 20 minutes.

But where TF is “Windows Disc Image Burner”? I cannot find it in Windows 8 Home Premium at all.
